Anne Pettus Shelbourne DAR Chapter honors Good Citizens

Raychel Anderle of Rotan High School and Hallie Rose Edmondson of Roby High School are the Fisher County recipients of the 2018 – 2019 Good Citizen Award and Scholarship Contest given each year by the Anne Pettus Shelbourne Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. The Good Citizen committee was created by a Resolution of the Congress of 1934. Raychel and Hallie were honored at a tea, on November 10, 2018, held at the First Baptist Church in Rotan. In attendance were: Catherine Weatherman, Carolyn Hargrove, Annie Weems, Mary Ann Marshall, Dot Harris, Zenita Gardner, Roenna Thomas, Susan Martinez, Randy Martin, Lenice Dennis, Cindy Fryar, Tessa Edmondson, Hallie Edmondson, Diltzie Edmondson, Zena Hargrove, Patsy Lawrence and Emilia Brewer. Raychel and Hallie received a pin, certificate, and wallet card.

The contest is open to members of the senior class in high schools in good standing with the State Board of Education, or accredited public and private high schools. The “DAR Good Citizen” must have the qualities of Dependability, Service, Leadership and Patriotism. Raychel and Hallie were selected by their classmates based on these merits.
