Angels adorn Christmas trees at the First National Bank and high school office in Aspermont, and members of the community have the opportunity to truly give during this season of giving.

When Aspermont ISD Principal Zach Morris and his wife Shayla lived in Lubbock, each year they would pick an angel from the tree at South Plains Mall in order to help a local family. When they moved back home, they picked from the tree in Abilene.

The couple began talking about how there were plenty of kids within their own town that could benefit, so they got together with other community members and started their own Angel tree program. That was 12 years ago, and the project is still going strong, helping dozens of families each year.

There are two tree locations in Aspermont, one at the First National Bank of Aspermont and the other in Morris’ office at the Aspermont High School. “The bank is really good to host, and put angels on the tree as people come in to participate,” said Shayla.
