Rotan ISD One Act Play Cast, Crew and Directors for ‘Twelve Angry Jurors” COURTESY PHOTO

Students involved in Aspermont and Rotan one-actplay troupes received top honors last week as both schools advance to the bi-district competition scheduled for later this month.

The always competitive Aspermont OAP company brings Mandy Conner’s “Unclaimed” to the stage this year. The play depicts haunting images, humor, humanity and the darker side of the circus and the lives of its performers and sideshow freaks, loosely based on the events leading up to the Hartford Circus Fire of 1944.

Rotan ISD’s OAP troupe is presenting a mixed-gender adaptation of Reginald Rose’s original 1955 play “12 Angry Men.” Tempers flare in this heated courtroom drama when a single dissenting juror brings new perspectives on the evidence in the efforts of convincing the other 11 to find “reasonable doubt” while the life of a 19-year-old-man rests in their hands.
