Rotan ISD approves $15 million bond proposal

The Rotan ISD Trustees met with the district’s bond committee during the board’s July meeting last week, where after review and discussion of the roughly $15 million construction project, the board accepted the proposal in preparation for the anticipated bond election in November.

With Fisher County taxing entities still in negotiations regarding BayWa r.e.’s planned 100-turbine expansion of its 30-mile-wide Mozart wind farm — located primarily within the Rotan School

District — trustees have been considering the possibility of a bond election since December 2018. More recently, a citizenmajority bond committee has been consulting with engineers, architects, and financial advisors to determine how funds might be spent.

RISD Bond Committee Member Frankie Gonzalez spoke on behalf of the committee last week, informing the trustees that the recommendations proposed were the result of four in-depth meetings with construction and financial advisors and first-hand observations over the past two months.
