Voters question their Candidates

For Volume 1 Number 26, that hit the stands today,  the voters were given an opportunity to ask the candidates running for office a few questions. The Fisher County Chronicle staff have been collecting questions over the past few months and just about all of the candidates were happy to oblige their voting community in answering them. The questions were given to all the candidates running for Commissioner of Precinct 1 & 3, District Attorney, and the Sheriff Office. We received no response from Ricky Thompson, who was busy preparing for a case and Santos Flores declined to answer.

Gordon Pippin - Incumbent - Commissioner of Precinct 1

Shana Haas runs for Fisher County Treasurer

Article Image Alt Text

Hey ya’ll! Shana Haas here, and I am excited to announce my candidacy on the Republican Ballot for Fisher County Treasurer. I am very dedicated to becoming your next County Treasurer.  I was approached by several voters asking me to run for Treasurer, so I went out and spoke one on one with many folks of the county and asked what they expected from me if I was to become the next Treasurer along with gaining their support and signatures for me to be on the ballot without paying a filing fee.  Ya see I am a simple, outdoor loving, let’s go fishing, country gal that believes in getting the job done right the first time. My parents are Reece and Leatece (Counts) Schooley, and I proudly went to school in Rotan for 13 short but memorable years and graduated Rotan High School in 1994.

Rotan School Board praises maintenance department

Rotan ISD Spotlighted the maintenance department at the school board meeting Monday night. Earlier this year, Rotan ISD hired Ray Doak as the school’s maintenance director. Doak took the board members on a tour of the facility, so they could see for themselves the changes he and his department have made.

His main focus was on the building, which was at one time used as the ag building, but in recent years been used for storage. Doak’s idea is to use the building as the maintenance hub. The building that once housed old office furniture and student records is now full of tractors, mowers, and tools.
