Bobby Lynn Green July 3, 1943 - October 22, 2017

(ROTAN) Bobby Lynn Green, 74, passes away Sunday, October 22, 2017. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 24, 2017, in Belvieu Cemetery, directed by Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home. Born July 3, 1943, in Paducah, Bobby was the son of the late J.D. and Estella Corrine (Marrs) Green. He married the love of his life, Virginia Carole (Cummings) on June 26, 1960. To this union were born one daughter, Ginger, and sons Lance and Casey. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, one brother (Jackie Don Green), one sister (Kyreta Ann Green Kemp), and one grandson (Sean Michael Walton). Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Carole, of the home; one daughter and son- in- law, Ginger and Henry Walton of Snyder; two sons and daughters-in-law, Lance and JoAnn Green of Vernon and Casey and Priscilla Green of Rotan; one sister and brother- in- law, Pat and Duane Lucas of Waco; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Joe Medrano, Sr. June 19, 1932 - October 8, 2017

(STOCKTON, CA) Joe Medrano, Sr., 85, returned to his heavenly home on October 8, 2017 after a valiant battle with Parkinson’s Disease. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace. Joe was born to the late Francis and Josefina Medrano in Hobbs, Texas on June 19, 1932. He graduated from Rotan High School, served in the US Army and attended Colorado College and University of New Mexico. Joe enjoyed a successful 27 year career at Ponca Wholesale in Pueblo Colorado and served on the Board of directors for Colorado State Candy and Tobacco Association. Joe settled in Stockton, California in 1992 after marrying Lois Koenig. He was very active in the Church of the Presentation where he was a member of The Knights of Columbus and Legion of Mary. Joe was blessed with a large family.

Nancy Cheyne August 8, 1940 - September 27, 2017

Nancy Cheyne, 77, of Jayton passed away Wednesday, September 27th, 2017 in Jayton. A memorial service will be held at 10am, Saturday, September 30th, 2017 at the Jayton Community Center. Burial will take place at 11am, on Sunday, October 1st, 2017 at the Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Bluff Dale, TX. Visitation is set for 6pm-8pm, Friday, September 29th, 2017, at Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home, in Rotan. Nancy Jane (Hines) Cheyne was born August 8th, 1940, in Rule, TX, to Home Hines and Bobby (Kelly) Hines. She married the love of her life, Olen R. Cheyne on August 15th, 1958 in Rotan. Nancy graduated from nursing school on August 5th, 1977; earning her LVN license. The majority of her career was spent working in the Jayton and Spur nursing homes. Nancy was a skilled gardener and loved working in her yard and gardens. She was also a big animal lover; especially when it came to her dogs and cats. Nancy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and friend.

June Ann (McCombs) Ballentine May 31, 1933 - September 21, 2017

June Ballentine, 84, of Rotan passed away Thursday, September 21, 2017 in Lubbock. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, September 23, 2017 at the Rotan Church of Christ. Burial will follow in Grady Cemetery, outside of Rotan. Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. June Ann (McCombs) Ballentine was born May 31, 1933, in Rotan, TX to Thomas and Kara (Willbanks) Mc- Combs. June was a graduate of Rotan High School in Rotan, TX. She met the love of her life, William Jack Ballentine, while working for Pioneer Gas Company in Crosbyton. She and Jack were married on November 19, 1955 and spent the next 59 years together until Jack’s passing in 2014. June was a member of the Rotan Church of Christ and had a strong, solid faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; and in her younger years she lovingly ministered children as a Sunday school teacher.

David Coy Kiser September 20, 2017

David Coy Kiser, 58, of Granbury, Texas passed away on September 20, 2017. David was born in Sweetwater, Texas to Cecil Coy Kiser and Carolyn Jo Overman- Kiser. He spent much of his time growing up with his grandparents, Cecil and Jean Kiser and Peggy (Nanny) Overman, before graduating from Roby High School. On March 9, 2001, David married Shannon Clayton in Midland, Texas where they resided until 2010 when they moved to Granbury. David has been a Drilling Superintendent for Big Dog Drilling for over 15 years and worked in the oil industry since the age of 18. He enjoyed fishing, boating and tubing and loved being near the water. He is preceded in death by his parents and his beloved sister, Angela Kiser.

Linda Rembert November 15, 1945 - September 5, 2017

Linda Rembert was called home to be with our Lord and Savior after her long fight with breast cancer September 5, 2017. She was born November 15, 1945 to the late Bert and Illene Hale in Roscoe, TX. Those left to cherish her memory are her two sons Blandon and David Rembert, numerous cousins and friends. A memorial service will be held 1:00pm Saturday September 23, 2017 at Roby United Methodist Church, N Church and 2nd Street, Roby, TX.

Noil Melven (Mel) Matthies August 17, 1923 - September 13, 2017

Noil Melvin (Mel) Matthies, 94, of Rotan, went to meet his Creator and Lord and Savior on Wednesday September 13, 2017 in Lubbock, TX. Graveside services will be held on Monday, September 18, 2017 at 10:30AM in Belvieu Cemetery in Rotan, TX. Weathersbee- Ray Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Melvin was born to A.K. and Alma Matthies on August 17, 1923 at home in Scurry County. He went to the Navy and served our country in World War II. Melvin was a mechanic by trade and a very good one but loved to fish and enjoy life. He married Marie Eckert on November 4, 1966 and she preceded him in death on September 26, 2003. Survivors include 1 son, Johnny Lynn Matthies of Rotan; 4 grandchildren, Sandra Benham of Post, Melissa Reynolds of New York State, Tammy Self of Post, and Andrew Matthies of Seymour; 2 sisters, Addie Markham of Rotan and Carol Mooney of Colorado City; and 1 sister -in- law, Shirley (Matthies) Jeffrey of Roby.

Clarice Ray May 23, 1936 - September 7, 2017

ANSON – CLARICE RAY, 81, died Thursday, September 7, 2017, at her home in Anson. Born May 23, 1936 in Sterling City, Clarice was a daughter of the late Ottie Tillman and Clifford (Page) Higgins. She graduated from Rotan High School in 1954. Clarice married Billy Ray in in Hamlin on April 15, 1955. Clarice was a Baptist Survivors include her husband, Billy Ray of Anson; one daughter, Teresa Ray- Marshall (and husband, Berry) of Pagosa Springs, CO; two sons, John Ray of Anson and Joel Ray of Lampasas; and she enjoyed seven grandchildren.

Juanita “Nita” M. Smith October 24, 1928 - September 7, 2017

Juanita “Nita” M. Smith, 88, of Rotan passed away Thursday, September 7, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 3:30pm, Sunday, September 10, 2017, at the First Baptist Church in Rotan. Burial will follow in Belvieu cemetery. A family visitation is scheduled for Saturday, September 9, 2017, from 5pm until 7pm, at Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home. Juanita Morgan Smith was born October 24, 1928, in Sweetwater, TX, to Leonard C. Morgan and Edna (Crowley) Morgan. She graduated from high school at age 16. Nita then went on to receive her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, from Texas Tech University. Nita married the love of her life, Billy James Smith on November 30, 1950, in Rotan. She worked as an elementary school teacher and taught at Rotan Elementary School for 40 of her 42 years as an educator. Nita was passionate about teaching children and continued teaching in various ways after her retirement.
