Robert Alan (Bob) Graves

Body

September 13, 1943 – March 26, 2023

“And he said to him, “Truly I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.” (Luke 23:43) Robert Alan (Bob) Graves passed away peacefully at his lake home in Brownwood, Texas in the early morning hours of March 26, 2023. Bob grew up in Guthrie, Texas and was one of three children to the late Hauley Graves and Jean Forrest Graves. He was born on September 13, 1943 in Los Angeles, CA where Hauley was stationed during World War II.

Bob met Marianna Egger of Mullin, Texas in Lubbock, while driving his brown Chevrolet car around Memorial Circle of Texas Tech University, blaring his cow horn! While attending Tech, he made a million friends and even more memories.

Bob married Marianna on March 14, 1964, and they began their life together farming southwest of Guthrie. Bob was very involved in the American Agriculture Movement, traveling to Washington, D.C. multiple times, lobbying for 100% parity for farm crops. He even took his tractor on the tractorcade in 1979.

Bob always said he never worked a day in his life because he loved every minute of everything he did. He owned and operated Bob Graves Trucking, hauling cattle and then animal feed ingredients. He said he drove a truck for 61 years, beginning by hauling water to the town of Guthrie when he was 12 years old.

Bob was proud to serve on the Board of Trustees for the Guthrie Common School District for many years. He served on the board when the concession stand and lobby were added to the original gymnasium. He was also a charter member of the King County Lions Club.

Bob is survived by his wife, Marianna, of Lake Brownwood; his two daughters, Cherry Ann (Jimmy) Pittcock of Aspermont and Nancy Jo (Brand) Cude of Goree; 5 grandchildren, Kelli (Griffin) Brown of Throckmorton, Kannan (Wyatt) Kieler of East Bernard, Ryder (Lacey) Cude of Haskell, Kathryn Cude of Lubbock, and Bryanne Cude of Goree, attending Tarleton State University; 2 great grandsons, True Kieler (9 months old) of East Bernard and Thomas Brown (6 weeks old) of Throckmorton; Jay and Shirley Hurt of Guthrie and their children Caleb and Holley Clifton, Clayton and Colter and Heath and Kara Welch, Breckon and Braylee; one sister, Carol (Duane) Chance of Denton and one brother, John (Rita) Graves of Brady.

The family requests that donations in Bob’s name be made to the charity of your choice.
