Raymond Messick was born on March 31, 1959, in Rotan, Texas, to Loyd and Peggy Messick. He lived a full life, marked by his love for family and commitment to his work.

Raymond worked at the Cotton Oil Mill for 27 years; he was a mechanic and loved all kinds of machines. He attended Rotan High School, where he laid the foundation for a life of hard work and perseverance.

Raymond was known for his warm personality. He cherished his family, and this love was evident to all who knew him. He enjoyed playing a friendly game of Wa Hoo and was an avid fan of high school football. His passions also included hiking and fishing, where he found joy and solace in nature.

Raymond passed away on September 1, 2025. He is survived by his mother; Peggy Messick; his daughter, Melisha Barnhill and her husband Robby Barnhill; sons, Carl Messick and Bradley Messick; grandchildren, Sierra Barnhill and Xavier Messick; sister, Patricia Josey; brothers, Loyd Dean Messick and Larry Messick and his wife Angela Messick and multiple nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Loyd Messick, granddaughter, Savannah Barnhill, grandparents Charley and Minnie Lou Messick, grandparents Raymond and Mary Cornelius, brother-in-law, Randy Josey, and Lynda Currie A funeral service to honor Raymond's life will be held on September 5, 2025, at First Baptist Church in Rotan, Texas, starting at 10:00 AM. The service will provide an opportunity for family and friends to pay their respects and celebrate the life of a man who brought joy to many.
