Barbara Joy Phillips, born June 14, 1938, in San Angelo, Texas, peacefully passed away on April 20, 2026. A devoted and loving Christian woman, Barbara lived a life marked by deep faith, family devotion, and heartfelt community engagement.

Barbara’s journey was profoundly shaped by her role as a homemaker and her partnership with her late husband, Vernon Paul Phillips, as they worked side by side at their business, Wester Auto. Her unwavering commitment to her family and her work reflected a life rooted in dedication and love. Educated through high school, Barbara embraced her interests and passions fully.

A woman of diverse talents and joys, Barbara found great delight in her artistic pursuits, particularly in making ceramics. She was also a cherished member of the Sweet Adeline Singing Group, where her voice and friendship enriched the lives of many. Additionally, she and Vernon shared years of companionship and friendly competition on their bowling team, a testament to their strong partnership and mutual interests.

Above all, Barbara’s heart belonged to her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren, who were the center of her world. She relished time spent with them, fostering bonds that brought joy and continuity to her family's legacy.

Barbara is lovingly remembered by her son, Bill Phillips, and his wife Lawanna; her daughter, Glenna Stuart, and her husband Brad; as well as by her eight grandchildren: Lyndi Boone and her husband Casey, Hunter Stuart, Lauren Dillin and her husband Andrew, Danci Dennis and her husband Chad, Hailey Brooker and her husband Micah, Taylor Phillips, Jessa Heyden, and Taylor Jeffrey. Her legacy further continues through seven great-grandchildren: Menley and Swazey Boone, Brody, Kinsley, Paxton Dillin, and Mesa and Whitt Dennis.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Paul Phillips, and her parents, William and Ethel (Morgan) Gressett, four brothers, Glen, Durwood, Dalton, and Bobby Joe Gressett.

A visitation will be held on April 24, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Roby Church of Christ, located at 1701 S 1st St, Roby, Texas, followed immediately by the funeral service at 2:00 PM.

The family would like to thank the Kent County Nursing Home staff in Jayton and West Texas Home Health and Hospice for the love and wonderful care shown to Barbara in the last 6 months. Barbara Joy Phillips’ life was a beacon of warmth, faith, and love. Her presence will be deeply missed, yet her spirit continues to shine brightly through the lives she touched. She leaves behind a family and community blessed by her kindness, her strength, and her enduring faith.
