Body

Donnie was born August 12, 1946 in Lodi, California, to father, the late Hubert Alton and mother; Wanda May (Holcomb) Kiker. Donnie moved to the great State of Texas as fast as he could at the ripe ole age of two. He attended grade school in Fisher County and graduated from Roby High School in 1964 where he was very active in FFA as a young man.

Donnie attended Tarleton State University where he received a BS degree in Agriculture and later earned his master’s degree in Education from Texas A&M.

Donnie married the love of his life, college sweetheart, Teresa Hyatt of Burnet, his junior year of college on August 5, 1972. He began his teaching career in Killeen as a math teacher for one year, transitioning to Ag Teacher for three more years. He and his bride moved to Anson in 1976 where Donnie served as Ag Teacher and FFA Advisor at Anson High School for 30 years, completing his 34 year career in education.

As a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Anson for almost 45 years, Donnie loved the members of this congregation and served the Lord through his leadership in the Church.

Through hard work and sacrifice, Donnie was able to increase his land and grass capacity to build his own Jones County gem. As a true steward of the land, Donnie not only improved his ranches but shared his knowledge with his family and countless youth throughout the Anson community.

Donnie and Teresa retired to their ranch in 2006, serving the Anson community as contributing members of First United Methodist Church. Through the years Donnie stayed active building a hunting and fishing haven for his family and close friends. He was known for his relentless story telling abilities and never met a stranger.

Loving his family unconditionally was one of his many endearing attributes, leaving behind his wife of 49 years, Teresa; son and daughter-in-law, Matt and Danielle Kiker of Stanton, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Will and Lauren Kiker of Bulverde, Texas; brother, Dennis Kiker and close friend Jana Bentley of Roby, Texas. The other loves of his life were his grandchildren, Brycen Kiker, Rankin Kiker, Kutter Kiker, Katy Kiker, Evea Kiker and Ella Kiker.

Donnie mentored countless young people to lead lives of integrity, wisdom and winsomeness, three characteristics that beautifully marked his own life and career.

Donnie Kiker, 75 years young, was called home to his Heavenly Father, doing what he loved, on Saturday November 13, 2021. A Celebration of Life will be held November 19, 2021 at the Anson High School Auditorium at 1:00 pm, with final resting to follow at Roby Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 18, 2021 at Adams-Graham Funeral Home from 6:00 to 7:30pm.
