Herbert Jay Moore, 91, of Rotan passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2024. Graveside services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday, December 10 at the Riverdale Cemetery directed by Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home of Rotan.
Herbert was born October 29, 1933 to Rufus and Delia (Dowell) Moore in Moody, Texas. He was a veteran and served on the NIKE/AJAX Missile Battery in Washington D.C. during the Korean Conflict from 19541956. Herbert married Lois Shipp Moore in Roby, Texas on March 1, 1962. Herbert loved life and loved people. He was always telling jokes and making people laugh. He was a working man, know to many as the “Rotan Junk Guy” or the “Watermelon Man”.
Herbert is preceded in death by his parent; two sisters; and one brother.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Lois; son, Toby; two daughter, Penny Allbritton and Vickie Etheredge; six grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
