Blue Ribbon Ready for the Fisher County Fair?

Have you perfected your apple pie recipe or finished that quilt you have been working on all year? If so, it is time to enter it in the 79th annual Fisher County Fair. This is the perfect time to show off your creative skills. If you draw it, paint it, grow it, make it, bake it, can it, sew it, quilt it or took of picture of it the committee will find a category for it!

All ages and people from all over the Big Country and Beyond are invited to enter items in the following categories: Baked Goods, Preserved Foods, Textiles (clothing and quilts), Horticulture and Crops, Hobbies and Crafts, Art, and Photography. Everyone is encouraged to enter their works of art for a chance at the coveted Blue Ribbon and an entire year of bragging rights, of course. There is no limit on the number of entries per person.

Bring your entries to the Fisher County Courthouse in Roby on August 24th from 4:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. or August 25th from 8 am - 10 am. Questions? Call the extension office at 325-776-3259 or 325-338-1469. All the winning entries will be published along with photos in the Double Mountain Chronicle.

Have you figured out what your Parade Float will be this year?

Cash prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place are awarded to the Best and Most creative Floats in the Rodeo Parade on Saturday, August 26th starting at 10 am downtown Roby. Do not forget your lawn chairs and water bottles... It's going to be hot folks! There are rumors that this year it is going to take a little bit more work that just washing off your tractor in order to win the cash. Call 325-338-1469 to get those floats entered. Line up will be at 9 a.m. at the Rodeo Grounds.

Jousting on the courthouse Square?

There will also be bouncy castles, jousting (this I have to see...) Face painting, craft show, Baked goods for sale, food and sno cones along with some fun entertainment all around the courthouse Square.

Do not forget the Muttin' Bustin Prelims ($20 entry fee for all those wanting a chance to ride)will be August 24th at 7 p.m. at the Fisher County Rodeo Arena. Beginning at this year for a chance to ride on Friday or Saturday night during the Rodeo which will begin at 8 p.m.
