While prospects for cool-season crops in South and Central Texas look positive, increased production costs and pandemic-related challenges will likely have a negative impact on pricing and producer profitability, said Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service experts.

Aspermont City Council approves subsidy for county law

After careful consideration of its finances in a special called meeting last week, the Aspermont City Council gave its approval for a near $58,000 subsidy to Stonewall County to help offset costs associated with hiring a new county deputy.

Fisher Court to consider new precinct maps next week

The numbers are in, and based on current census data, Fisher County will be redrawing commissioner precinct boundaries before the upcoming primary elections. A public hearing is scheduled to be held just before next week’s regular meeting of the court on Monday.

Clothes Closet to have a yard sale Friday, Nov. 5

The Fisher County Clothes Closet sells used clothing and household items and the funds go to The Fisher County Food Pantry. They are located on Main Street in Roby, just south of the light on the west side. On Friday, November 5th, they are having a yard sale to reduce inventory.

The Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory, TVMDL, recently accomplished a testing milestone in the ongoing battle to curb the deadly disease in white-tailed deer known as chronic wasting disease, CWD.

Gas prices topping $3 across state

The price of a gallon of gasoline tops $3 across much of the state, which is up more than $1.20 from a year ago, according to AAA. The average price for regular gas in Texas stood at $3.03 per gallon on Sunday as crude oil prices continue to creep up, closing above $80 per barrel.
