Fisher County Historical Commission

What a great couple of weeks for the Historical Commission. The morning of the Fisher County Rodeo Parade, the Commission held an Open House at the Museum. We had a great many stop by to view our museum and look over the collections, while enjoying ice cold water and cookies.

Small towns have a lot to offer

I’ve heard this said many times about small towns: “The best thing about living in a small town is that everybody knows everybody. The worst thing is everybody knows everybody.” In small towns you meet the most interesting people and learn some surprising and fascinating things.

Roby CISD tables additional construction cost

Double Mountain Chronicle Editor The Roby CISD Board of Trustees met on Monday, where after a brief update on the district’s bond project, the board tabled a vote on additional costs for repaving areas around the campuses until more accurate projections toward a clearer plan could be made.

Applications Being Accepted for Texas Game Warden Cadet Class

AUSTIN — The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is currently accepting applications for its 66th Texas Game Warden Cadet class.

This past week has been a great week as far as the weather was. It has not been too hot, and to get a rain shower once or twice a day, man you can't beat that. Love all the rain, everything has gotten alive and so green. Folks are feeling so much better and we all have more energy now.

Virtual Nature Club for kids starts Sept. 19

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service Virtual Nature Club will start Sept. 19. The online series for youth will provide virtual “campers” with lessons, videos, discussions and hands-on activities. The cost is $50. The club will meet from 4-5 p.m. every Monday through Nov.
