The old Route 66 had 2,448 miles and stretched from Chicago to Santa Monica. It was built in 1926 to offer travelers a road to the west, giving them hope and a new beginning during the dust bowl days. It went through Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California.
