Remains of WWII soldier returns to Fisher County

The remains of U.S. Army Air Forces Tech Sgt. Frank C. Ferrel, a Roby native killed during World War II will be returned to his home after being accounted for by the DPAA Jan. 10, 2023, after his remains were identified using anthropological and mitochondrial DNA analysis.

April 5th is Mattie Weaver Day in Stonewall County

The Stonewall County Commissioners Court surprised one resident with an early birthday present this week, officially proclaiming the 5th day of April as Mattie Weaver Day in recognition of a lifetime of deduction and service to her community.
