J.R. "Button" Lewis

Body

March 14, 1935 —February 8, 2025

In Loving Memory of J.R. “Button” Lewis Born to Calvin Richard Lewis and Jewel (Morrow) Lewis, he had one brother, Calvin Lee Lewis who passed away too early in life.

Married to Barbara Ann Berry for 26 years until her untimely passing. Two children, Calvin Jay Lewis and Kimberly Rena Lewis, and a step daughter, Kathy Ra’chel Nichols. Both Barbara and Kathy passed away before him.

After Barbara passed, Papa met, fell in love, and married Avanell (Caruthers) Stringfield. With that marriage we gained a great Stepmom and two wonderful sisters in Mika and Danon. They remained married for 34 years.

With deep love and gratitude, we remember our Papa, J.R. Lewis, who passed away on February 8, 2025. He lived a life full of adventure, friendship, and devotion to his family, always looking forward to his next bike ride.

Papa had a great love for motorcycles, not just for the thrill of the ride, but for the friendships and memories that came with it. Whether enduro racing as a young man, attending rallies, or simply enjoying a nice ride on a winding road, he found life in every journey. His adventurous spirit and love for travel took him across this amazing country, making many lifelong friends. But, no matter how far he went, home and family were always at his heart.

Above all, he was a great Dad and stepdad, a loving husband, and an awesome grandpa and great grandpa. He taught that every moment needed to be remembered. His warmth, laughter, and wisdom will be deeply missed, but the lessons he shared and the love he gave all will remain with us always.

Though his journey on earth has passed, his spirit continues on in the lives he touched. We will honor his memory by carrying forward his love for life, celebrating his life and not our loss.

Memorial will be 1 PM Saturday March 22nd, 2025 at the First Christian Church in Crockett with a Celebration of Life gathering after.
