Judy Carroll Porter Hawthorn was born in Rotan, Texas on June 26, 1937, to Maurine and Wilbourne Porter and passed away on August 27, 2026 of renal failure at her daughter’s home in Fort Worth.
She and her brother Mike were raised in Rotan by their grandparents, Minnie Lee and J.W. Porter. Judy was the Salutatorian of Rotan High School’s graduating class of 1955. She moved to Houston to attend Lillie Jolly School of Nursing, graduating as an R.N. in 1958. Judy was a dedicated nurse for over 50 years. In June 26, 1937 ~ August 27, 2026
1966, she married Earl Hawthorn, a marriage that lasted until his death in 2021. Their daughter, Judith, was born in 1968.
Judy is survived by her daughter Judith (Daniel Abraham), and grandchildren Anna and Noah, brothers Mike (Pat) and Pat (Lynn), and sister Kay, as well as many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind a circle of dearly loved girlfriends from every part of her life. We will all love and miss her forever. Judy never forgot the values that were instilled in her as a child in the red dirt of Rotan. Work hard, be kind and thoughtful, and love the Lord. Sweet dreams, Judy.
