Good morning to all my friends that read my column, it's a beautiful day in Aspermont this morning but we need rain badly. Joe's little cotton is pretty but it needs a drink . Everybody had a good time at Old Glory Tuesday night, the band was wonderful just not many dancers.

KERR COUNTY DEATH TOLL NOW AT 108; TWO STILL MISSING

The number of people still missing in the July 4 Kerr County flood dropped to two after another body was recovered last week, the Austin American-Statesman reported.The two still missing are a child and an adult who were at Camp Mystic, where at least 27 campers and counselors died.

A Tavern Becomes a Community Center

Some 300 people live in the community of Burton, not far from Brenham. In 1823 the Schwartz and Schwartz Mercantile opened for business in Burton. During the past 102 years the building has been a variety of stores, cafés, beer joints and various other enterprises.
