It was so nice to get a half inch of rain. Oh my, just couldn't stop looking at it, so nice and helpful. Thank you Lord for the little rain. Maybe we will get some more soon. Having some cooler weather was also a Blessings.

When I wrote last week’s essay (“The Farmer Sells at Retail”), I had no idea that August 7-13 was National Farmers Market Week in America. Fairly poetic, I must say. If you hear the term “farmers market,” it probably conjures up a different image in each of your minds.

There is little doubt this week’s edition will sell more than a few extra copies, and before everyone starts wielding claims that we only seek to stir up trouble to sell more papers, all I can ask is that you read to the end. You should be good and ticked off by then.

People who live in Spur, Texas have a lot of pride in their town. They are good neighbors and have respect for each other. They are good people. Spur has a population of around 1,200. The Dixie Dog, the town‘s only eating place, closed because of the pandemic.

My yard has varicose veins and doesn't seem to care. I guess the upside is that the mower (that's me) gets a break, but seeing as yard work is my main form of exercise that's not a good thing. The cracks are widening and spreading and any day now I wonder if I'll come home and find my dogs missing.
