Boll weevil eradication most successful pest insect elimination program

Boll weevils plagued the cotton industry throughout much of the Cotton Belt for almost a century before entomologists and producers executed one of the most successful pest eradication programs in the U.S. Texas cotton producers have waged a 30-year campaign against the boll weevil.

Rotan Superintendent announces retirement

Long-standing Rotan ISD Superintendent Greg Decker surprised trustees and members of the public Monday night, where after a brief closed-door meeting, he announced his formal resignation, effective December 31.

Rotan City Council adopts budget and prepare to repair streets

The Rotan City Council met late last week, formally adopting the FY 2024 budget while also tying up loose ends from earlier discussions, including hearing the final preparations were underway and workers will soon begin repairing the city’s extensive potholes.

Stonewall officials agree to expand county cemetery

The Stonewall Commissioners agreed to expand the county’s cemetery grounds last week, which should open up several requested plots, however, details for how the county will proceed, including the possibility of pricing adjustments will be discussed in the weeks to come.
