Last time, I touched on the concept of “helpers” in the world. I advocated for each of us to be the helpers for our friends and neighbors within our communities who might be struggling.

FAREWELL TO SUMMER

I hate to see summer go. It is the fun time of year. I hear the howl of locusts on a scorching afternoon. The Monarch butterflies wiggle in their sunlight flight. Pure white clouds slowly float across a royal blue sky. Birds sing their lilting arpeggios. A distant lawnmower roars.

Determined to Persevere

On the road to accomplish your dream, you’re going to have plenty of opportunities to give up. You may have to try many times, but when the going gets tough, that’s when you need to find determination and perseverance. Accomplishing dreams requires great strength.

Having a climate change discussion with folks where we live might cause some global warming of another kind—red faces, flared tempers, and hot-under-the-collar reactions. I would rather not hide this issue under a burning bush. In fact, I would jump at the chance to go to Washington, D.C.

Disaster declaration follows Nicholas

Seventeen Southeast Texas counties have been declared disaster areas after Hurricane Nicholas came ashore, dumping more than a foot of rain and cutting off power to a half-million customers in Texas, according to poweroutage.us. That number had been reduced to about 4,200 as of Sunday.

Folks, I am sending the Old Glory News in early because I am going to be gone this week. 3 other ladies from Aspermont & I are going to leave in the morning to go to Branson. We have advance tickets to see a show about the life of Jesus and we have tickets to see the Oak Ridge Boys.
