Stonewall County Appoint James Payne as County Attorney

Stonewall County commissioners appointed James Payne as county attorney Tuesday during its October 13 meeting, filling the months-long vacancy.
The appointment ends a vacancy that had remained open since former Stonewall County Attorney Riley Branch died Feb. 22 at age 38. Branch had served as Stonewall County attorney from 2017 until his passing and operated a private law practice in Aspermont.
