The Stonewall County Commissioners presented a proclamation late last month, declaring June 26 as Dorthey Dickerson Day in Stonewall. “I can say one thing,” said Dickerson, a one-time courthouse employee, “and I have enjoyed all 20 years of being here with all y’all. It has been a pleasure.” Stonewall County Judge Ronnie Moorhead said one of the things he misses the most is that Dickerson was one of the only people who would share morning coffee with him.

Texans asked to conserve energy in heat wave

The agency that operates the power grid for much of the state asked Texans to conserve energy use several times last week as the grid was beset with high demand and low wind-power generation, according to the Austin American-Statesman.

Although the court has been reluctant to expand the county-owned cemetery in the past, after residents petitioned the court on Monday to reconsider that decision to accommodate the purchase of a large family plot, the court agreed to place the item on the September agenda.

Fisher County Clinic construction works on final touches

The Fisher County Hospital Board of Directors met on Monday, where the board approved a construction revision to address the parking area at the district’s new clinic.
