It was so nice to look out this morning and see snow. We sure can use the moisture, hope it is a wet one. I really did not expect to see snow, but it is nice. I think the weatherman just had us all worried about being so cold and icy that we were expecting the worse.

The Texas Legislature begins its work creating a state budget for the next two years with slightly less revenue available than it had during the previous biennium.Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar projects lawmakers will have $194.6 billion available during the 2026-27 budget cycle, down 1.1%.

Winter storms can hit hard and leave many without power or water. For those unable to heat their home, bursting pipes is a possible scenario. When the temperature drops below 32 degrees Fahrenheit, water freezes. If the water in your pipes freezes, the pipe itself can get weaker and break or crack.

Gerald Rogers with James E. Rogers and Company met with Roby CISD officials in a special called meeting held last Thursday, where board trustees reviewed the district’s annual financial report for 2024, explaining that the year’s shortfall was not a longterm financial concern.

Melanie Baker Brigante, owner of several properties was on hand to inform the council about ongoing efforts to bring the properties back into compliance during Tuesday night's meeting.
