John Ballew of Saginaw grew up in the Panhandle town of Memphis where his grandfather was a bootlegger. John wrote a book about his colorful grandfather titled THE HALL COUNTY GANGSTER, RAYMOND BALLEW. Since there is no newspaper in Memphis anymore, John puts stories about his hometown on Facebook.

Things have been quiet around our house this past week, we have both did a little bit of everything, where doe the time go,. I have painted and got ready to paint a beautiful dancing Indian, cleaned house, and did the usual things all of us women do to keep the home going.

Dear Editor: Why has the county judge wanted to cut the hours of dispatchers? It could be a good reason like the county is still having budget shortfalls. According to the recently passed budget, the county has 8.2237 million in surplus funds.
