One of the most fascinating stories I did last year was on the desk in Alpine. In 1981 some students at Sul Ross State University took a desk up a mountain behind the main campus and left a journal for people to write down whatever was on their mind. I don’t like winter. I don’t like being cold. My fingernails turn blue as soon as the temperature falls below 40 degrees. My energy level falls and all I want to do is curl up in a warm room and read a book. Consequently, we rarely vacationed in cold climates when our children were growing up.

Things are quiet in Aspermont, Texas, this morning. Snow and sleet are everywhere. The restaurant behind our house is open, but there are not very many eating breakfast this morning. It started out as sleet and ice, then it started snowing, so everyone is housebound.

Oh boy, it sure was cold this morning and I just don’t like cold weather. I try to think of weather in July and August when it is so cold. Hot weather thoughts make it seem warmer. Need to pray for rain. It is so dry, too much dirt and germs in the air.
