Dear Editor How about some commentary from someone who has been in the trenches…in the real world.I read a recent piece by the rural reporter, expressing displeasure with some members of the Texas National Guard being sent to Illinois.

Can it just stay October?

Temperatures are dropping, albeit slower than I would like. My favorite colors are on full display in store fronts, on clothes, as well as on food, leaves, and eye shadow.And then there’s baseball.

Dear Savvy Senior, I’ve read that the Social Security Administration offers a lump-sum payment to new retirees who need some extra cash. I haven’t yet filed for my retirement benefits and would like to find out if this is true. What can you tell me?
