Everyone here at the Double Mountain Chronicle is wishing a speedy recovery to our favorite Old Glory News Reporter, Anita Dozier. She had to spend a little time in the hospital due to not feeling well. But she is back home and recovering and hopes to have her article next week.

Santa Fe Soup

1 1/2 - 2 lbs lean ground beef 1 large onion (chopped) 2 envelopes ranch-style dressing mix 1 envelope taco seasoning mix 2 cans corn (drained) 1 can pinto beans (undrained) 1 can tomatoes (undrained) 1 can tomatoes with green chiles OR 1 can Rotal (undrained) Brown meat and onion - drain.

Dear Editor I would like to thank you and the publisher for publishing my poems. It's amazing to see what God lays on my heart to write. I also enjoy hearing people telling me they enjoy the poems that God blesses me to write. All the praise and glory goes to God.

Good for you Mr. Hurt

Good for you Mr. Hurt. I’ve been saying it since we moved home awhile back. Fisher County’s life depends on diversity. As many cottage industries as can be dreamed up. I never would have realized the potential, for , not only a dramatic reality series fit for NETFLIX , but print as well.

CHICKEN (OR BEEF) POT PIE

It is easy to make - you can buy crusts, then you just add chicken, vegetables and cream of chicken soup. I do not use corn or peas because I prefer green beans, carrots, potatoes and mushrooms.

It sure has been cold this past week, but we were Blessed with a shower of rain. Some got a lot others (like me) did not get as much. It was so dry, it did not take long to disappear. Maybe we will get some more soon.

Abbott: No government mandated vaccine passports in Texas

Gov. Greg Abbott issued an executive order last week banning state agencies, cities or counties from creating a “vaccine passport” requirement. In addition, organizations that receive public funds are prohibited from requiring consumers to prove they have received the COVID-19 vaccine.

Does bulls**t make good road material? ... Because we have a surplus of it

Not being one to typically shy away from talking about the elephant in the room and keeping true to what seems to be my inherent nature, I have to ask: Is anybody else tired of watching the Fisher County Commissioners self-destruct on a regularly scheduled live monthly broadcast?

Just warm and dry. Wish we could trade some wind for some rain drops. Just talking again. But we do get some cool wind once in a while. This community was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of a dear relative, friend and family man, Alden August Lowack on Friday.

Optimism: The Vaccine for Disappointment

Writing is a hit or miss proposition. Sometimes I hit and the email reflects that the goal of my column was reached. At those moments, I’ll admit, I feel a sense of satisfaction. At other times, I clearly miss the mark and the email also reflects it in many ways.
