When childhood ends

My granddaughters are soon to be home for summer. With only a dance recital on June 3 and a commuter basketball camp, the girls are set for some carefree time with their parents. One more round of swimming lessons, and they will be good to go for pool time.

Counterculture

“Counterculture” has a certain connotation. To folks of a certain age, “counterculture” evokes visions of the hippies with flowers in their hair swaying to Janis Joplin. That was the example of a counterculture in a specific period of time, but it is not the only example of counterculture.

Thanks to all of you who made my 86th birthday Friday so special, my phone started ringing at 8:00 and texting and the last call came in at 9:30 Friday night, The text sent bouquets of roses, cakes, bears hugging, and the one that topped them all I just laughed out loud.

Henderson’s Historic Landmark

My mother Lillie is taking up a bit more space in my head and heart this week. Springtime reminds me of her birthdate, April 28, so I suppose it is only natural to feel a stronger tug to memories and moments shared with her.
