I am writing this column on Sunday night, because Joe has got the fishing fever, and he wants to get up early on Monday morning and go fishing. Now this is the person that sleeps until 8:00 or later, so we will see what happens in the morning!!!

Soup’s on in Stanton

For 33 years Stanton has had a soup cook-off to raise funds for the restoration of the city’s historic monastery and convent complex. I have been privileged to judge it a few times and have always had a good time there. It costs nothing to enter the contest.

The restored Palace in Spur

When the Palace Theater in Spur closed in the 1970s it ended up belonging to the chamber of commerce, which offered to sell it to the county historical commission for ten dollars. The commission accepted the offer.
