Stonewall Co. commissioners to consider cemetery expansion

Although the court has been reluctant to expand the county-owned cemetery in the past, after residents petitioned the court on Monday to reconsider that decision to accommodate the purchase of a large family plot, the court agreed to place the item on the September agenda.

The Stonewall Memorial Hospital District Board of Directors reviewed the district’s forthcoming fiscal budget last month and prepares for a public hearing to discuss questions or concerns from members of the public before increasing taxes to aid district improvements in 2024.

The Fisher County Rodeo continues to grow, seeing a significant uptick in attendance and some of the most excitement the event has seen in years. With next year being a milestone 80th anniversary, the Fisher County Rodeo committee is working hard to have next year be one of the best one yet.

Fisher County Sheriff Simon Wade confirmed on Monday that he decided to depopulate the Fisher County Jail on Friday, August 18, due to staffing concerns and officer safety after two employees were placed on administrative leave.
