The late, great Elmer Kelton is one of my favorite authors of fiction, Kelton had a unique ability to write realistic stories with characters who were eminently relatable. Kelton has an underrated novel called “Honor at Daybreak” about the 1920s oil boomtowns of West Texas.

The historic military fort in Fort Davis has a legend about an Indian woman who was left behind during an attack on the fort by Apache Indians. She was sort of adopted by a military family and given the name Emily. Over time she fell in love with a young officer.

Judgement

Tonight I was watching an independent movie made by a friend of mine who is a film director. I think it’s a great movie, and although I’m not at liberty to promote it yet, I wanted to share something the lead character said that made my mind turn.
