LaVerne Upshaw went to be with her Lord, husband and other friends and family on December 29, 2021, at the age of 92. Dorothy LaVerne (Gruben) Upshaw was the fourth of eight children of Alvin and Vera (Ogden) Gruben of Rotan.

Billie Jean Goff 91 entered into eternal rest Monday evening at a local care center. Funeral services will be held 2:00 MST graveside in the Old Lovington cemetery in Lovington, New Mexico under the care and direction of GilesMcCoy Funeral Home of Aspermont.

Christine D. Martin

Christine was born November 17, 1927, in Brownwood to the late Odus and Bessie (Galyan) DeHay. She married Willie Martin on June 6, 1944, in Rotan. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Rotan and a member of the Fisher County RV Club.

“C” Elmo Cummins, Jr. passed away November 24, 2021. Services will be Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at the Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home Chapel in Rotan. “C” Elmo Cummins, Jr. was born on May 17, 1929, on Nopal Street in Uvalde, TX to Grace Taylor Cummins and “Columbus” Elmo Cummins, Sr.

James Martin

James was born November 22, 1931, near the community of Duffau, Texas, in the southeast part of Erath County to Lanham Martin and Anna Jones Martin. James grew up on the Overton Ranch which is a division of the Lambshead Ranch near Albany, TX.

Lillian J. Hicks

Lillian J. Hicks of Rochester, TX passed away peacefully with her children by her side on Sunday afternoon Nov. 14, 2021. Lillian was the last born child of Minnie J. Coufal and Joseph W. Cerveny. Born April 23, 1927 in the Irby, TX community.

Donnie was born August 12, 1946 in Lodi, California, to father, the late Hubert Alton and mother; Wanda May (Holcomb) Kiker. Donnie moved to the great State of Texas as fast as he could at the ripe ole age of two.

Charles J. Schwertner, 81, of Abilene, passed away on October 18, 2021 in Abilene. Visitation will be from 4-6 pm on Sunday, October 24, 2021, with the Rosary starting at 5:30 pm at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
