Windfarm defaults on Fisher Co. Hospital tax abatement

The Fisher County Hospital District Board of Directors met in a special meeting on Monday for the singular action of declaring Mesquite Star LLC to be placed in default status according to its 2019 tax abatement agreement with the district.

Calf prices strengthen, cattle herd shrinking

Texas’ cattle herd numbers continue to shrink, but calf prices remain strong, according to a Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service expert. Future cattle prices could hinge on weather and subsequent grazing availability and/or input costs, such as grain., said David Anderson, Ph.D.

Fisher Co. approves some federal spending:

The Fisher County Commissioners covered a lot of ground during the court’s February 13 meeting, and while some requests for ARPA funds were approved, other projects the court could fund through federal contributions were tabled for future consideration.

Roby CISD appoints interim superintendent

The Roby CISD Board of Trustees met in a special-called meeting again on Tuesday, appointing Duane Hyde as interim superintendent until the vacancy can be filled permanently. In a 6 – 1 vote, the board also approved hiring a consultant to assist with finding the right candidate.
