Rotan street repair off to a slow start

With all the equipment and infrastructure in place, progress on repairing the numerous potholes that litter Rotan city streets has been slow as work crews have been busy tending to the city’s decaying water and sewer system, leaving little time to address the deteriorating streets.

BIGGEST TURNOUT YET

The Stonewall Memorial Hospital District hosted hundreds of locals at its community health fair last week on Oct. 10. With many more vendors and public participation than in recent years, hospital event coordinators said this year’s fair was the largest and most successful yet.

Aspermont ISD to repair Junior High HVAC

Aspermont School Trustees met on Monday, agreeing to take bids for HVAC work at the district’s junior high building, possibly using the district’s permanent school funds to cover the unexpected costs.

Fisher County Sheriff proposes countywide animal control

Fisher County Sheriff Simon Wade has been making the rounds in recent weeks, speaking to local officials and encouraging residents to participate in a community working group, a committee for devising a solution to the county’s ongoing at-large animal problems.

TDA Joins with Country Music Artist to Promote World Mental Health Day

Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller has united with country music artist Jenna Paulette to encourage rural Texans to make mental health a top priority. Texas farmers and ranchers face an increased risk for suicide and mental health challenges.

Joe L. Rimes receives 65 year service pin

A rare honor was given at the regular meeting of Aspermont Masonic Lodge on October 10, 2023. A long term service award was given to a member of the Lodge. Brother Joe L. Rimes, 84, was presented with a 65 year service pin (pictured).
