Regional Context

Last week, we opened the concept of viewing jobs and economic development in a holistic manner. Rather than trying to create jobs as if they occur in a vacuum, it is better and more realistic to view jobs in the context of the factors that affect jobs and the community at large.

PALO DURO CANYON IS TEXAS SIZE

The Palo Duro Canyon is the second largest canyon in the United States. It is 1,200 feet deep, 120 miles long and over 20 miles wide in some areas. It covers parts of four counties in the panhandle and the number of visitors is increasing.

I’ve always wondered why people are the way they are. Why is one person happy, and motivated, and why is another depressed, and unmotivated? There are many factors—genetics, upbringing, and environment. A specific event or a chain of events may have happened to cause a person to be a certain way.

When I was in high school I could get a hot dog and strawberry sundae at Dairy Queen for 40 cents. It was a regular stop. The oldest Dairy Queen in Texas in continuous operation is in Henderson.
