Cardinals deal Yellowhammers third loss in 73-28 blowout

The Hermleigh Cardinals overpowered the Yellowhammers 73-28 Friday night, dealing the Hammers their third straight loss of the season, leaving Rotan with near-impossible odds of making it into the playoffs. Less than eight minutes into the first quarter, Hermleigh established a 23-0 lead.

Lady Hornets break losing streak

The Lady Hornets broke their losing streak with a 3-0 win against Rotan on Friday. All of Aspermont’s hitters landed in the kill column on the stat sheet. Leading the Swarm was Senior Sadie Gentry.

Tough week for Roby athletes

The Lion’s den was full of losses last week, as both junior high and JV teams were defeated by the Hermleigh Cardinals on Thursday. With only two weeks left in the season, both teams are confident they will end on a winning streak.

Yellowhammers open district with a 52-38 loss to Ira

The Yellowhammers began district play by traveling to Ira to face the #9 ranked Bulldogs. Although ending with a Rotan loss, it was not the “blowout” predicted in DCTF magazine, which had the Yellowhammers as a 45-point underdog.

Lady Hornets suffer double defeat

Saturday October 9, the Lady Hornets traveled to Klondike to take on the Lady Cougars. Aspermont had fallen to Klondike in their first match-up earlier this season. Unfortunately, the Cougars got the best of the Hornets again in round 2.

Yellowhammers took a tough 48-44 loss Friday Night to a strong Lometa Hornet team at O.C. Warden Stadium in the Ranger. The Rotan Yellowhammers were a 45-point underdog to the Hornets, who Dave Campbell’s Texas Football had ranked #9 in Class 1A D1.

Lady Lions cross country takes first in Rotan Invitational Meet

With the cross country season in full swing, it was time to travel down the road for the Rotan Invitational cross country meet. The Rotan Invitational is a good chance to experience the meet prior to the district, with fierce competitors and even fiercer temperatures.
