Letter to the Editor

Secret Simon Dear Editor, Thank you, Mr. Hurt, for getting to the truth of Secret Simon’s real reason for an expensive and unnecessary animal control program. I know he lived in McCaulley, and thus Rotan and Roby city ordinances would not help him. I did not know of the loose dogs in McCaulley.

SERIOUSLY

While recent headlines, whether national news or those within the pages of this little-newspaper-that-could, often are the dramatic reflections of human life, it is nice to have opportunities where we’re reminded how it also takes great strength to avoid taking oneself too seriously.

Dear Editor,

Okay, we get it. Randy Ford, who resigned from the position, doesn't like the new sheriff. But Mr. Ford DID resign. So why is he still trying to dictate what happens from the sheriff's office and position? I might have believed he wanted to express his opinion, once. But publicly, week after week.

Check your Mirrors

I dream I can make a garden of everything I have ever lost. -- poet Siarra Freeman Last week I had to break off a discarded tree branch near a dumpster to fish something out of that same container. The back story will come as no surprise to my family.

Faces & Places

'Each time a person passes by you and you say 'hello', imagine that person turning into a candle. The more positivity, love and light you reflect, the more light is mirrored your way. Sharing beautiful hellos is the quickest way to earn spiritual brownie points.

Standoff at border continues between state, feds

A standoff at an Eagle Pass park continues as the Department of Homeland Security has sent a second letter to Gov. Greg Abbott demanding access to the Rio Grande park that is now under state control.

Great big outdoor sculptures

Joe Barrington of Albany creates outdoor metal sculptures. “One of my favorite pieces I ever built is in Lampasas. It’s a sixteen-foot catfish on the back of a 1959 Chevrolet pickup. The fish hangs over the cab and has a come along on it and looks like it’s just been caught.”

MIGHT GET FOOLED AGAIN

In the wake of Roby CISD’s special-called meeting, where officials presented a caricature of governance, trustees proved the school district's rug was no longer able to contain the dirt their silence attempted to sweep beneath it.

2 Cents Worth

The rain was wonderful in Aspermont this past week, Joe is already thinking about his garden, getting his onion slips, and getting them in the ground, I would say the first twin sign in February but this Kentucky boy I am married to, does not pay any attention to me and my signs!!!!!!
