The highly anticipated opening splash day at the Stonewall County swimming pool was initially scheduled for May 27, but due to inclement weather, gates welcomed visitors for the first time this summer on May 28.

Rotan ISD prepares to enhance school safety

Considering tragic events like those of Uvalde and ongoing legislative efforts to improve school safety, educators across the state and nation are actively exploring ways to create a safer learning environment for students while maintaining classroom consistency.

Eyes on the skies

With recent mid-May thunderstorms sweeping through the region bringing much-needed moisture to the thirsty soil, and as ranchers are pleased with green grass and full stock tanks, farmers are now hoping the skies will bring a few days of sunshine before planting begins.

June 3 rd • The Newman Cemetery will hold their annual clean-up day on Saturday, June 3rd at the cemetery. The annual cemetery meeting will be held at noon and be followed by a pot luck lunch. Please bring a dish.

Aspermont ISD prepares for baseball rebirth

Although mesquite trees and overgrown vegetation have reclaimed the diamond’s former infield, a petition submitted to Aspermont ISD Superintendent Zach Morris just before the end of term has enough interest among the students that have officials gearing up for an AISD Baseball Team.

Fisher County Hospital reports financial results for 2022

Fisher County Hospital's board of directors convened last week for their regular meeting, where representatives from Forvis presented the district's annual financial report, which reflects strong financial footing not reported in many rural hospitals in the state.

Additional repairs to Stonewall Library

Stonewall commissioners wrapped up last month by addressing an important bill concerning recent repairs at the library/ community center. Officials expressed satisfaction with the completed work but acknowledged the need for additional repairs and anticipated extra costs.
