Roby vs. Rotan Alumni Football Game set for next weekend

For the past few weeks, former gridiron gladiators from Roby and Rotan have been dusting off the playbooks and getting in a few extra crunches on lunch breaks in preparation for the upcoming Big Country FCA Roby vs. Rotan Alumni Football Game set for next Saturday.

Demolition approved at Fisher County Rodeo Grounds

The Fisher County Commissioners gave the go-ahead early last month to tear down the structure at the county’s rodeo grounds known locally as “The Pink Building.” The building’s demolition has not been scheduled.

Kicking off family Christmas with the perfect tree

Texas Christmas tree production continues to hold strong despite impacts from extreme drought, according to a Texas A&M Forest Service expert. Fred Raley, Ph.D., Texas A&M Forest Service tree improvement coordinator, said he is expecting another year of high demand for Christmas trees.

Fisher County Clinic opening delayed

Fisher County Hospital District CEO Leanne Martinez informed hospital directors earlier this week that while contractors are continuing to work through the final stages of the clinic’s construction, she is no longer attempting to estimate when the work will be completed.

State closes Stonewall County jail

Inmates shall not be confined in excess of 72 hours. Sheriff Mullen said it changes little about how the jail currently operates.
