Both Fisher County and Stonewall County qualify as rural under USDA guidelines, making residents and local governments eligible for dozens of federal programs.

ROBY CISD’S BOOKS COME BACK CLEAN

Roby CISD trustees returned from the winter break last week, hearing the district’s annual financial report and audit presentation for the fiscal year that ended Aug. 31, 2025, later approving the clean audit from James E. Rodgers & Co.

Caprock Canyons Earns Dark Sky Designation

Caprock Canyons State Park and Trailway has earned designation as an International Dark Sky Park, making it the fifth Texas state park to receive the certification and adding another reason for area residents to make the drive north.

SPACE STATION CREW HEADS HOME EARLY AFTER MEDICAL ISSUE

Four astronauts aboard the International Space Station will return to Earth this week, more than a month ahead of schedule, after one crew member developed an unspecified medical condition.NASA and SpaceX are targeting 5:05 p.m. Eastern on Wednesday for undocking and a splashdown around 3:41 a.m.
