SUPREME COURT UPHOLDS STATE’S REDRAWN CONGRESSIONAL MAP

The U.S. Supreme Court’s 6-3 decision to reverse a lower court’s ruling and uphold the mid-decade redrawn congressional map for Texas sent candidates scrambling to file or opt to retire with the filing deadline on Monday, Dec. 8.

CITY OF ROTAN TIGHTENS PUBLIC COMMENT RULES

Rotan City officials adopted new public comment rules last month, designed to streamline meetings while still allowing residents to speak. The changes, set a three minute time limit for speakers, require a signup sheet, and prohibit insulting language.

Roby City Manager Jack Brown informed council members early last month that the city has replaced a failing water control valve with a modern model, restoring full automatic operation and saving money compared with previous bids.
