Applications for prescribed fire grant now open

COLLEGE STATION, Texas—Texas A&M Forest Service is now accepting grant applications for the State Fire Assistance for Mitigation – Plains Prescribed Fire Grant through August 15, 2021. The grant will provide $74,514 in total funding for prescribed burns.

Stonewall Co. tweaks budget

The Stonewall County Commissioners reviewed a few minor amendments to this year's budget last week, and the court also discussed possible infrastructure grants for this year as well as how the current special called legislative session could impact counties, including their tax rates.

Cities deal with overflowing dumpsters

Public officials across numerous cities are receiving considerably higher levels of complaints about trash collections than usual, with some customers reporting not having trash picked up in six weeks.

Demolition begins at Rotan ISD

Just before noon on July 19, heavy equipment began tearing through the entrance to the Rotan ISD Library, the first of several buildings to be demolished in preparation for the forthcoming construction and renovation project.
