Food Handlers Course schduled for April 6th

A food handlers course accredited by the Texas Department of State Health Services is being offered by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, Haskell County. Food Safety: It’s In Your Hands is scheduled for April 6th starting at 2:15PM at the Extension office at 101 South Ave D, Haskell, TX 79521.

A year with COVID-19

Although the CDC first categorized COVID-19 as a pandemic on March 11, a year and two weeks ago, it was during this week last year when residents of the Double Mountain region felt the impact of the virus. At the time, the state of Texas had reported 18 positive cases.

Kicking off the travel season, Robert Kelly and Paula Shields are out enjoying a little bit of Texas, with a trip to Marfa. We wanted to see the odd spooky desert lights this place is famous for, we didn’t see any. We stayed in the Hotel Paisano, where the stars of the 1956 movie Giant stayed.

My high school mascot was a Yellow Jacket. The school newspaper was called the Jacket Journal. On football Fridays students wore spirit ribbons that carried the phrase “Sting ‘em” or something similar. In normal times our class has two reunions a year. We call them swarms.
