Stonewall nurse bids farewell after 42 years

Surrounded by friends, coworkers, and family, Carla English retired from her 42-year career in nursing last week, looking forward to spending time doing other things that bring joy to her life, like spoiling grandchildren.

Fisher County 4-H shows up at West Texas Fair Steer Show

This year Fisher County 4-H had thirteen members take steers to the West Texas Fair Steer Show. There were over four hundred steers entered and the county was well represented. Presli Alaniz had a 5th place middle weight black cross and a 6th place heavy weight Hereford.

High wheat prices could push Texas, U.S. acres upward

Wheat acres are expected to increase in Texas, but dry, warm conditions are delaying many plantings for now, according to a Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service expert. Texas producers are expected to follow national projections and plant more wheat this season, said Fernando Guillen, Ph.D.
