The Aspermont Hornets traveled to Paint Creek to face-off the Pirates last Friday evening, Feb. 6, to play in one of the few remaining district games left for swarm this 20'-21' basketball season.

Successful week for Roby basketball

The Roby Lions played three games last week while the Lady Lions played one. The Roby Lions started the week off with wins against the Lueders-Avoca Raiders on Monday and Paint Creek on Tuesday. The Lions and Lady Lions then packed up to go to Rule on Friday.

The Aspermont Hornets had another round of district basketball games they hosted on Jan. 29th against the Roby Lions. The Lady Hornets played their final district game at home and captured their district championship title and will be advancing to the playoffs.

The Rotan Yellowhammers continues to win on the courts. On January 26, the Hammers hosted the Rule Bobcats in their second matchup for this season (The previous matchup on January 1 at Rule, the Hammers defeated the Bobcats 63-32). The improved Bobcats led at the end of the first period, 15-12.

The Lady Lions lost a hard-fought, non-district game on Tuesday night against the Hermleigh Cardinals. The score at the end of the game was 23-45. Mackenzie Castillo and Brynlie Johnson were the only Lady Lions that scored during the first period.

The Hornets then went on to play the Roby Lions in one of the tightest games of the season. In the first quarter, the swarm was ready to take on the Lions on their home turf.

The Lions and Lady Lions went to Knox City Tuesday, January 19th. The Lady Lions jumped out to a quick lead in the first period and held the Greyhounds to 6 points. The Lady Lions beat the Greyhounds 65-19.

The Aspermont Hornet and Lady Hornet basketball teams hosted a district game against the Knox City Greyhounds on Jan. 22nd. The Lady Hornets began to dominate the Lady Greyhounds from the start of the match with their accurate dead pan shooting skills.

Will the Rotan Yellowhammers close out the first half of District play with a perfect record? The opponent was the Aspermont Hornets on January 19. The Hammers were trailing 18-21 at the end of the second period. At this point, Jaxon Warren was leading the Hammers in scoring with 10 PTS and 5 REBS.
